How we work on every job — our service and quality standards
Skyview Auto Glass is a safety-and-calibration-first auto glass network: 191 shops across Michigan, Indiana and Illinois, every one also running mobile service. This page is the standard every shop and every technician works to, written down so you know exactly what to expect — and so you can hold us to it.
Before anything is ordered
When you call, a sales representative matches your vehicle's VIN to the exact part number, so the replacement glass carries the same features and sensors as the original — rain sensor, acoustic layer, heated wiper park, heads-up display, camera bracket. Nothing is ordered until you agree to the quote. Once you book, you get a confirmation text with an estimated arrival time.
Before the technician arrives
The glass is ordered from our warehouse and the technician is notified, picking up the glass first where the job needs it. Once the glass is on the truck, a customer service representative calls you with the exact ETA and sends a text update; if you do not answer, we leave a voicemail. Arrival windows are usually about three hours. If the vehicle is at a workplace or job site, we ask ahead for any gate code or access the technician will need.
At your vehicle
The technician gives their name, confirms they are from Skyview Auto Glass, and explains the specific service before starting. The vehicle is pre-scanned, the old glass and trim come off, and the pinch weld is prepared. Before the new windshield is set, the technician checks that the urethane bead is applied correctly — the bead is what seals the glass and holds it to the body. The glass is set, moldings and wipers go back on, and if the vehicle has a forward camera, the static and/or dynamic calibration the manufacturer specifies is done right there, followed by a post-scan. You get a 30-minute safe drive-away time.
Before we leave
You check the work. Any concern is resolved on the spot, and payment is collected only after you confirm you are happy with the work.
Aftercare that protects the seal
Urethane needs time to harden after the glass is set. For the first 48 hours, do not take the vehicle through a car wash, and leave a window cracked open slightly. Closing doors on a sealed cabin pushes air pressure against the new windshield, and car-wash water pressure can push through urethane that has not hardened yet — those are the usual causes of a leak or wind noise that shows up a few days after a replacement. If it happens anyway, we still honor the warranty and apply a new bead to fix it.
If we find rust under the old glass
Sometimes removing the old windshield reveals rust in the frame that no one could see before. When that happens, the technician photographs it and shows you before installing the new glass, and rust repair is quoted or referred. Leaks caused by that documented rust are not covered by the installation warranty — which is exactly why you see it first, before anything is installed.
The warranty behind the work
A lifetime warranty on every installation and replacement, covering leaks, workmanship, wind noise and defects in materials. It is tied to the vehicle's VIN, so it stays with the vehicle and transfers to the next owner if you sell it. Road noise through non-acoustic glass you chose is a property of that glass, not an installation defect. Full terms are on the warranty page.
If something isn't right
Call (248) 325-5559 or email warranty@skyviewautoglass.com. Any proof of service — or simply the VIN — is enough for us to find the job.
The training behind the standard
Skyview Auto Glass is a Registered Member Company of the Auto Glass Safety Council (AGSC), which publishes the ANSI/AGSC/AGRSS auto glass replacement safety standard. Skyview technicians hold NWRD windshield-repair, DINITROL glass-replacement and ASE certifications, and calibration follows the vehicle manufacturer's procedure for the exact year, make and model.
Questions about our standards
Why would a new windshield leak or whistle a few days after replacement?
Usually because the urethane had not finished hardening: a car wash in the first 48 hours, or air pressure from closing doors on a fully sealed cabin, can disturb the bead before it cures. That is why we ask you to skip car washes for 48 hours and leave a window cracked slightly. If a leak or wind noise appears anyway, it is covered — we apply a new bead to fix it.
Can I go through a car wash after a windshield replacement?
Wait 48 hours. Car-wash water pressure can push through urethane that has not hardened yet. Hand-washing around the glass is fine.
Why should I leave a window cracked after a windshield replacement?
Closing a door on a fully sealed cabin pushes a burst of air pressure against the new windshield while the urethane is still soft. A window cracked open slightly lets that pressure escape. Keep it cracked during the first 48 hours.
What happens if you find rust when you remove my windshield?
The technician photographs it and shows you before installing the new glass, and rust repair is quoted or referred. Leaks caused by that documented rust are not covered by the installation warranty; everything else the warranty covers still applies.
How will I know when the technician is coming?
You get a booking confirmation text with an estimated arrival time. Once the glass is on the truck, a customer service representative calls with the exact ETA and sends a text update, and leaves a voicemail if you do not answer. Arrival windows are usually about three hours.
When do I pay?
After the work is done and you have checked it. Payment is collected only once you confirm you are happy with the work.
Who do I contact if a problem isn't fixed?
Call (248) 325-5559 or email warranty@skyviewautoglass.com with any proof of service or the vehicle's VIN.
Does the warranty transfer if I sell the car?
Yes. It is tied to the vehicle's VIN, not to the owner, so the next owner can use it.
