Windshield replacement in Grosse Pointe
A windshield replacement — a "windshield change," as a lot of people search for it — starts with the VIN. We match the glass to your vehicle's exact build so the new windshield carries the same features as the original: rain sensor, acoustic interlayer, heated wiper park, heads-up display and the camera bracket for lane-keeping and emergency braking, in OEM or OEM-equivalent glass. If your vehicle has a forward-facing camera, we recalibrate it as part of the same job — static or dynamic, at the shop or at your location; every calibration can be done mobile. Safe drive-away time is 30 minutes. Michigan's freeze-thaw cycles and road salt turn a stable chip into a running crack on the first hard freeze — once a crack reaches the edge of the glass or crosses the driver's line of sight, replacement is the only safe option.
Michigan law and insurance for windshield replacement
Michigan's vehicle code (MCL 257.709) prohibits driving with anything that obstructs the driver's vision and does not name a crack size; the Michigan State Police say a cracked windshield can fall under the defective-equipment statute, MCL 257.683. Michigan has no zero-deductible glass law — a replacement is covered under comprehensive, subject to your deductible, and we bill the insurer directly.
